Call for Nominations for 1588 Barrington Building Preservation Society Board
The 1588 Barrington Building Preservation Society is seeking new Board members to help us transform the heritage building (known as the Khyber Building) into an arts space in downtown Halifax.
In spring 2018 we reached an exciting milestone when HRM Council voted to sell 1588 Barrington Street to our Society. Now, we’re seeking new Board members to help reach the goal of creating an accessible arts space where our communities can connect and thrive!
The next phase of our project involves a big fundraising push, continued community outreach and continued planning to build this vital arts space.
Our Board is a hands-on group of volunteers who meet once per month with varying amounts of activity required between meetings. Board members serve a term of two years.
To nominate yourself to our board please fill out this form. Nominations will remain open until all positions are filled. Our next review of applications happens on Oct 29th, 2018.
We will prioritize nominees from marginalized communities, especially people of colour in our selection process. Nominees are encouraged to self-identify if they are Black, Indigenous, People of Colour (BIPIOC), Persons with disabilities, or Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Queer, Two-Spirit (LGBTQ2S+).
